ABOUT THE FAMILY
This warm, progressive family recently welcomed their first and only child, and is seeking an experienced, nurturing, and proactive Family Assistant to join their household and play a pivotal role in their daughter’s early development and their success as involved parents. This vibrant family values authenticity, reliability, and heartfelt connection and is looking for a caregiver who will truly integrate into their lives as a trusted partner. They have cherished their team of doulas who have helped them survive since their daughter’s birth and would look to closely emulate that dynamic with an individual who can commit for 6 – 12 months. The family’s household has been lively, with parents, doulas, and other caregivers present at times. The ideal Family Assistant should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in this dynamic setting.

Their four-month-old daughter is a joyful and energetic baby who loves physical closeness and thrives on attention. She has GI issues, tongue and oral ties (currently working with specialists), and food sensitivities that the family is actively monitoring. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of experience, sensitivity, and enthusiasm to support her unique needs and the parents journey through this while contributing to a fun and enriching environment.

RESPONSIBILTIES:
• Childcare:
o Engage in age-appropriate, gentle, and stimulating play to encourage development.
o Support feedings, including preparing bottles and taking a slow, supported approach if feeding baby with breaks and upright time.
o Manage naps, including rocking to sleep or contact napping as needed.
o Handle diaper changes, outfit changes, and general child-related care.
o Maintain a screen-free environment during work hours.
• Household Support:
o Wash bottles and pump parts; assist with household laundry (including children’s and family items).
o Prepare simple meals for the family, including meals aligned with mom’s elimination diet, which she is doing in an effort to support baby’s GI issues.
o Assist with organizing toys, rotating seasonal clothing, and maintaining a tidy, safe environment.
o Clean and organize baby gear (e.g., car seats, strollers).
o Open packages or unpack deliveries.
o Handle light housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, and taking out the trash that the parents may not get to when meeting baby’s needs.
• Family Assistance:
o Provide occasional hands-on support for the parents, such as giving mom time to shower, rest, or run errands.
o Accompany the family to doctor’s appointments or errands when requested.
o Offer proactive and flexible support tailored to the family’s evolving needs.
o Embrace a "no task is too small" mentality, understanding that the family values support in managing household and family needs that may occasionally be overlooked due to the baby’s primary care demands, while ensuring that any requests remain within the reasonable scope of the role.

Travel:
The family enjoys travel and may request the Family Assistant to accompany them for domestic or international trips lasting up to 2-3 weeks. Many of these trips would be followed by 2-3 weeks of time off as the family remains abroad and the Family Assistant comes home. A valid passport and comfort with travel are required.

Ideal Candidate:
• Is nurturing, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a “can-do” attitude.
• Demonstrates confidence and sensitivity to the needs of others.
• Thrives in a collaborative environment and can anticipate regular family needs, without direction, once familiar with them.
• Complies with the family’s request for a fragrance free-home in order to best support baby who is highly sensitive and irritated by them.
• Balances physical play and intellectual engagement to promote development.
• Has the ability to work in a home with frequent trips up/down stairs
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Able to travel with the family.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 3 years of childcare experience
• Ability to physically engage in childcare tasks, including floor play, carrying the child, and light household duties.
• Non-smoker, drug-free, with no criminal record (background check required).
• Comfortable in a fragrance-free environment while at work and does not bring or wear anything scented to work.
• Up-to-date on childhood immunizations and Tdap. Vaccinations such as flu and covid are strongly preferred but not required.
• Comfortable working in a family environment that embraces diversity and upholds progressive values.
• Able to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
